Twitter and Facebook have become known for a
modern-day version of a pat-on-the-back or a tip-of-the-hat . . . a “shout out.”
It is basically listing someone’s screen name and asking people to give them a
shout out by “liking” it. If you get a shout out, someone is acknowledging something
good that you have done.
I was inspired to give a public acknowledgement
on LinkedIn to an organization that deserves it for their stellar performance. One
Nevada Credit Union was given a first place award as the Best Place to Work in
Southern Nevada for a small business. Their hard work and dedication to their
employees through education, volunteerism and leave policy is very impressive.
There was also one new program that they implemented based on the recent
government shutdown that was extraordinary.
When One Nevada heard that government employees
would not be receiving their full paycheck, they went to work to find a way to
help them. The executive team came up with a creative solution. They offered an
interest free loan to cover the difference between their members’ partial and
regular paychecks for as long as the government was shut down. “But what if
someone requested a loan that was not a member,” I asked. I was told that they
could open an account and a loan would be provided. Wow! That is excellent
customer service!
Today’s gift was to give them a shout out on
LinkedIn for their award. I hope that other companies will find similar ways to
help those who are suffering because of circumstances beyond their control. And
then maybe those other companies will get recognized as a best place to work.
In Giving,
Robin
