You Might have Moved Too Many Times If . . .

. . . Cardboard boxes make you gag.

. . . You have developed Papyrophobia.

. . . Your new neighbors give you a “welcome to the neighborhood” gift and a
“goodbye” gift at the same time.

. . . You save every newspaper in the event you may need them to wrap glassware.

. . . You can’t get your car in the garage because you have huge stacks of
empty moving             boxes.

. . . You keep post office address forwarding cards in your wallet.

. . . Real estate agents think you are a cash cow.

. . . You are on the Welcome Wagon “do not visit” list.

. . . Your friends preface dinner invitation with, “If you still plan on living here
      next week . . .”

. . . Television cable installers duck and run when they see you coming.

. . . There is a note in your doctor’s files that calls you a “one hit wonder.”

. . . Local coffee shops don’t have to worry about you getting a free cup of
coffee because you won’t live here to get your 10th cup free.

. . . You don’t worry about cleaning your house because you won’t live there
       long enough.

. . . You eat off of the same plate every night because you don’t want to
      unpack your dishes.

. . . You go to the grocery store for one day’s worth of food so you won’t
have to move any unused canned items.

. . . You have the moving company on speed dial.

. . . Your friends always send your calls tto their voice mail because
they think you are going to say, “We need a few strong backs . . .”

If you could identify with any of the above, you may be moving too often. Historically we’ve been on the five-year relocation plan. I guess that is how long it takes us to forget the agony of moving.

Although, we are happy to help other people get settled in—better them than us. For today’s gift, I offered my time to the new pastor of our church. He needed to dispose of his moving boxes and we offered to pick them up from his house and recycle them for him.

Hopefully, today’s gift won’t be repaid to us anytime soon, so that we won’t have to recognize ourselves in any of the statements about moving too many times.

In Giving,

Robin
